GUIDE
Install a resource pack
These steps are for Minecraft Java Edition. Put the zip in the resourcepacks folder, then move it to Selected.
Pack folder
- Windows:
%APPDATA%\.minecraft\resourcepacks - macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/resourcepacks - Linux:
~/.minecraft/resourcepacks
You can also open that folder from the game: Options > Resource Packs > Open Pack Folder. On 1.8.9 the button is on the main menu: Resource Packs, then open the pack folder.
Turn it on
- Download the pack from its card. Leave the zip named the way it saved, including any
§marks. - Open Minecraft Java and go to Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder.
- Move the zip into that folder. Do not bury it in another folder.
- Back in Resource Packs, move the pack from Available to Selected.
- Click Done.
1.8.9 or 1.19+
Faith is one edit with two editions. 4K is for 1.19.2 and up. 5K is the legacy pack built for 1.8.9 PvP. 4K and 5K are the YouTube subscriber milestones those versions shipped at. Both downloads are on the Faith page.
Each card shows its version tag. Hope and Vanilla+ are 1.21, Doly is 1.19+, Donut is 1.17, ItzRealMe is 26.1, and Small Pops is 1.11+. Open the game version that matches the tag. Each card title opens a pack page with the same download button.
The pack is not in the list
Minecraft only lists a pack when pack.mcmeta sits at the top of the zip, in the folder you just opened.
- Use Open Pack Folder from the same game you are playing. A different launcher profile can use a different folder.
- The zip has to be directly inside resourcepacks, not inside an extra folder you made.
- Close the Resource Packs screen and open it again so the game re-reads the folder.
- If it still does not show, the file is probably a zip inside another zip.
Zip inside a zip
If you open the download and the only thing inside is another zip, that outer file is a wrapper.
Put the inner zip in resourcepacks. That inner zip is the one with pack.mcmeta in it.
Minecraft will not list the wrapper.
Made for an older or newer version
Minecraft warns when a pack was made for a different version than the one you launched. The warning is about the pack format. The download is fine. For Faith, use the 5K edition on 1.8.9 and the 4K edition on 1.19.2 and newer so the pack matches the game. A pack tagged 1.21, 1.17, 1.11+, or 26.1 belongs on that version. You can still try a pack after the warning. If the textures look wrong, switch to the edition tagged for the game you have open.
Colored names and § codes
A § in the filename is intentional. Minecraft treats § plus the next character as a color or style in the pack list.
Hope saves as §e§lHope §f[16x].zip. Doly and both Faith zips use the same kind of code, with spaces and a leading ! so they sort where they do.
Renaming the file strips that color. Leave the name exactly as it downloaded.
